Unlike the original crash bar, the fairing of our design at the upper frame mounting point does not need to be cut out. The geometry of the crash bar is specifically designed so that no cutting of the fairing is required when bolting it to the frame. Cutting or modifying the fairing carries the risk of damaging it and potentially having to repaint it. With our crash bar, this risk is completely eliminated! This makes retrofitting the engine crash bar very simple, as the original fairing shape is preserved.
Special silent block for the crash bar of the S 1000 XR
Another key feature is the special vibration-decoupled mounting of the crash bar halves, both at the top on the frame and at the bottom on the engine. On the frame side, the crash bar is bolted in the standard way. On the engine side, however, we use a specially designed silent block. The lower ends of the engine crash bar are axially inserted into this silent block.
The three-piece silent block consists of an aluminum mount bolted to the engine housing and two O-rings positioned inside. One O-ring sits inside the mount for vibration decoupling and acts as a stop damper. The second O-ring serves radial guidance. The Shore hardness of the O-rings is precisely determined to ensure a secure and tight fit of the engine crash bar despite the vibration decoupling.
This system provides vibration-decoupling of the crash bar from the engine and frame, preventing undesirable transmission of vibrations and oscillations.
In the event of a tip-over or crash, the crash bar rests against the internal stop of the silent block via the O-ring, which acts as a buffer and vibration damper, absorbing the axial forces generated. The second O-ring absorbs radial forces as well as energy.
