Axle protection pads ensure that, in the event of the motorcycle tipping over or falling, the swingarm, wheel axle, and the drive end of the cardan shaft are effectively protected from damage. The protective pads move the aforementioned components away from the ground or road surface in the event of brief contact or scraping, thereby reducing or preventing costly damage to the motorcycle. To achieve this, in addition to the choice of material, we incorporated two essential specific features into the design and tested them in racing. These are damping and friction resistance, which increases progressively during the sliding phase.

Damping: The first positive characteristic mentioned is damping, which is capable of absorbing some or all of the impact energy when sudden forces are applied. Friction resistance: The second positive feature is friction resistance, which, due to the component’s geometry, increases from the outside toward the inside as the effective sliding surface area expands. We thus ensure that our axle guard offers only low friction resistance in the event of light contact, but shortens the sliding phase both in terms of time and distance in the event of prolonged contact with the road surface. This means that in the event of a fall with an axle guard, both the duration of the slide and the sliding distance itself are reduced.
